Me and my fiance Dr Toone have recently moved to the area from Sheffield. I suffer with my skin and have a prescription for it. When I have been it to the doctor's here they had no record of it. This resulted in a 4 hour round trip to Sheffield to get the perscription and take into the doctor's to order. A week later when I have change to get back in to pick it up, the receptionist just looks at me blank. Not only have they not done anything with it they have also lost it. I find this concerning as after all it is quite an important peace of paper. No everyone makes mistakes but when I'm then told we will ring your old doctors and speak to them to see what it was you had and sort it from there I'm slightly frustrated that why was this not done the first time ?? And why did it cost me a 4 hour drive when they are telling me now they can just pick the phone up ?? This is still ongoing so we will have to see what the outcome is. But I'm sure that if my other half who works in the hospital as a doctor was to loose something like that she would be in the bosses office rather quickly explaining herself
I was taken to hospital on the Monday before and was prescribed medication which could not be given to me until the chemist had Re-opened. I had explained that it would be more convenient to collect them from Wycliffe. I have been into the centre on 2 separate occasions and called over 10 times. The first time I came the receptionist advised me that a call would be made to me to arrange an appointment. I had no call so I returned the next day and the receptionist told me she would never say that with arrogance, rudeness and making me feel like I had done something wrong. Similar situations have happened with the same staff with my family which have changed practice because of this. I have now called the appointment line and arranged an appointment. The practice is great, the doctors are caring and have always been really thorough and given the best service they can. Its just such a shame that the few ruin the reputation of the service they offer.
Staff from office, reception, nurses and doctors have given a fantastic caring service.
I will not mention names. However, I recently telephoned the surgery on a Monday to ask for a telephone appointment with a doctor. I pressed option 2 to speak to a Receptionist. The call was answered by a lady who said she was one of the Medical Secretaries. She asked what I wanted and I explained. At the point of her hanging up I asked dont you want to know my name? I know who you are she said you are A.... ....... the Receptionist told me who she was putting through. No I said and gave her my name and told her I had come straight through and had not spoken to a Receptionist. She finally took my name and date of birth and confirmed my mobile phone number. She said she would ask Dr ? to ring me. I suggested the lady who should have been put through might still be hanging on waiting. It is now Friday evening and the Doctor has not rung me. I have worked as both a Doctors Receptionist and a Medical Secretary and would have never have not passed any message on. Any Company or organisation is only as good as its staff.
Cannot say enough good things about this practice. I have always got appointments, the receptionist are lovely and it is well run. Every doctor I have come across has been brilliant - very attentive and professional. Every ailment has been treated effectively and/or referrals have been dealt with promptly. I feel very lucky to have access to such a brilliant service.
